Zion, UT (Day 1)

Day 1 of PTO started out strong. We spent our first full day in Zion hiking the Narrows, a hike through a rocky, cold, river ash the bottom of a narrow canyon. We completed the roundtrip hike from Temple of Sinawava to Big Springs (~12 miles) in about 7 hours. Some things I had never done before that hike: swimming in full clothes, shoes, and a backpack; hiking with a literal stick to keep balance; eating a soggy, warm sandwich and being thrilled about it.

After a much needed break (and some ice cream) we hiked to the Emerald Pools - a very mellow hike compared to our morning adventure.

At the end of the day, we were greeted by some chickens back at our Airbnb.
